W części gramatycznej książka obejmuje swoim zakresem najistotniejsze kwestie m. in. czasy, mowę zależną i niezależną, zdania warunkowe, stronę bierną, czasowniki modalne, zdradliwe czasowniki, przyimki i wyrażenia przyimkowe, przedimki. W części po-święconej leksyce zastosowano podział tematyczny według takich ważnych zagadnień jak: wszechświat i ziemia, pogoda i warunki atmosferyczne, zwierzęta, roślinność, ciało ludzkie, wiek, osobowość, problemy zdrowotne, edukacja, kariera, technologia informatyczna, język, rozrywka, państwo i organizacje międzynarodowe i inne.

Rozdział ten zawiera przykładowe zadania do Paper 3 czyli Use of English.

Jeśli zadamy np. pytanie „Have you been drinking?", dajemy do zrozumienia, że wyczuwamy woń alkoholu.

W przeciwieństwie do zdań w Present Perfect, zdania w Past Perfect mogą zawierać konkretne określenia czasu, np. in 1998, on Saturday, when he returned, before she got married.

1.17 Future Simple

Jak wszystkie inne formy czasu przyszłego, Future Simple nie może być użyty w zdaniach zaczynających się od wyrazów when, while, after, before, by the time, if, unless, provided. Reguła ta obowiązuje, wtedy gdy nie ma my zamiaru nadać wyrażeniu z will znaczenia „zechcieć", np. „I'll be grateful if you will kindly consider my request."

„I won't join you."). „I won't be joining you.").

42 Zareaguj na opisane w zdaniach 1-13 sytuacje, wypowiadając swoje decyzje w czasie Future Simple według wzoru.

1.18 Be Going To

Wyrażenia be going to używamy, by wyrazić intencję zrobienia czegoś w przyszłości.

Unikaj stosowania wyrażenia be going to z czasownikami ruchu, zwłaszcza come i go. W takich przypadkach użyj czasu Present Continuous.

„I'm sorry, I can't see you tomorrow. I'm going to visit my uncle.").

„I'm sorry, I can't see you tomorrow.

Jak wszystkie inne formy czasu przyszłego, Future Continuous nie może być użyty w zdaniach zaczynających się od wyrazów: when, while, after, before, by the time, if, unless, provided.

Użyj czasu Future Continuous, by dać do zrozumienia, że chcesz obiektywnie zapytać o czyjeś plany.
