Opis

This is a series of books on love, relationships, and the idea that you don't always have to chase after what you want in life. There are times when it finds you. There are three sets of people in life. First are the white caps. People who are always on the move. Always doing something. Next are the backwaters. People who have no intention of going anywhere or doing anything.       The third are the drifters. These are people who know what they want, where they are going, and what they need to do to get there. But it is all done in its own time. Like a piece of wood lazily floating down a stream.     May you all drift your way to success.

Amanda

Amanda stared across the small coffee table at her, what appeared to be now, ex-fiancée. She was dressed in a purple dress with a daisy imprint. On the chair next to her sat the hat which went with the outfit. This was an old style straw one with a purple sash. She knew her mouth was hanging open just as she knew the coffee cup in her hand was becoming uncomfortable. She ignored this. Her mind was still trying to deal with what she had just heard. In fact she was trying to deal with the whole scenario of what just happened in the last fifteen minutes.

They were in the Tompkins County Library, more to the point it was the Starbucks coffee shop they were in which was inside the library. Her fiancé, Ronald Winter, had wanted to meet her here to tell her something really important. To Amanda it seemed like the right moment for him to propose and make them really official as a couple. For the last several months the conversations had somehow always gotten around to this topic. Ron kept telling her that when the time was right he would make it all official.

By the time Ron arrived Amanda had been sitting in Starbucks for almost 45 minutes. What should have been her first hint there was something wrong was by how tense he was when he kissed her on the cheek, not the lips as usual, or the way he sat down. He did not sit back in the plush chair like normal but sat on the edge as if he would jump up and leave at any second.

“Hey sweet missed you last night. How did your meeting go?” Ron had told her about a big meeting with his boss over a promotion but the way he reacted at the simple words made it look as if she had struck him.

Ron looked carefully at the raven haired beauty. Some men might think that the amount of make up she wore was tacky but not him. He loved the way she looked. He was also happy with how thin she had been. But not now. In the last few months Amanda had put some weight on. And not in any of the right places he had hoped she would. He thought about asking her if she would get a boob job before they were married. He didn’t really like how small they were. “The meeting went far better than I had hoped for. I got the position of personal assistant to my boss. And, to tell you the truth, there were a lot of perks that came with the job I had no idea about. This is why I called you to meet me here.”

Amanda waited for several seconds before saying something. “Did you get a raise with the position? Have you decided the time is right? What’s going on?”
