Opis

Bravey the Forest Guardian

A two-part forest adventure for children ages 5–9

Bravey is a forest elf and guardian of the woods, watching over animals, nature, and the fragile balance between the forest and the human world.

This book tells two connected stories.

In the first, a young king becomes lost during a hunt and meets the forest guardian for the first time. What begins as a chase turns into a promise—one that quietly shapes the future of the forest.

In the second, the story follows a community of mice living near humans, beneath an old barn. When hunger and danger appear and wolves begin to roam nearby, two young mice make a brave decision. Forced to leave what they know, they venture deeper into the forest, where the forest elf’s magic will once again change their fate.

Created for shared reading, this book invites families to slow down and read together. Each chapter is followed by Adventure Cards with conversation questions and simple activities that help children talk about fear, courage, choices, and cooperation.

Inside this book:

  • a two-part forest adventure connected by a forest elf and a magical oak
  • animal characters and nature-based fantasy
  • moments of real tension balanced with safety and hope
  • interactive Adventure Cards with questions and activities
  • a flexible reading experience for families

Bravey the Forest Guardian is a story about courage, promises, and finding a place to belong—told through adventure, nature, and quiet forest magic.

How to Use This Book

Our story is more than just a tale to read or listen to—it’s an invitation to a shared family adventure! There are many ways you can enjoy it together. For example, you might read the first part of the book and then spend time playing and talking with the Adventure Cards connected to each chapter. Another option is to read the entire story first and then plan the adventures over several days

And don’t forget the coloring pages!www.chwatek.pl

Inside the book you’ll find Adventure Cards—a set of questions and activities designed to help you experience each story more deeply.

How does it work?

Each card includes conversation prompts and ideas for shared activities. The questions are designed to encourage discussion, reflection, and exploring emotions—both the child’s and the adult’s. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers here. What matters is the conversation, the laughter, and the time you spend together.

The activities are simple, natural, and require no special preparation. Everything you need can be found at home—or outside, in the forest, on a walk, or on the way to school. This time is meant to be about closeness, joy, and cooperation, not obligation.

Why these questions?

From experience, I know that one well-told story can turn into an extraordinary conversation. All it takes is the right question for a child to open up—to start talking, laughing, or sharing what they feel. In this way, an ordinary story becomes a bridge between the child’s world and the adult’s.

What do you gain?

shared time—without rush or distractions,

a better understanding of your child and their emotions,

growth in imagination, empathy, and courage,

inspiration for shared play and discovering the world together.

In Closing

May your meetings with Bravey and the mice be something more than just a bedtime story. Let children speak, create, ask questions, and dream. May the adventure in Bravey’s world become the beginning of many beautiful conversations and shared moments—ones you’ll return to with a smile.

PART I — The Tale of King Mimar and Bravey

Chapter 1. An Evening Beneath the Oak

In a cozy burrow, somewhere among the roots of an ancient oak that grew deep in the forest, Grandpa Whisker was getting ready for his evening storytelling. The bedtime stories were eagerly awaited by the grandchildren of the mouse grandfather—Squeak and his older sister, Spark. I don’t know if you know this, but forest mice live in enormous underground villages, reached by long tunnels that also connect them to the human world. There are so many tunnels, and they are so long, that you can wander through them all the way to the city of humans, and even to the harbor by the sea. Mouse burrows are warm and connected to one another by short passageways, which is why, on story evenings, children gather from the entire mouse neighborhood. Grandpa Whisker’s home is a large burrow that can hold a great many mouse children. Every evening Grandma Whisker prepared sweet cookies for the whole group, and Grandpa Whisker lit the fire in the fireplace and turned on the old lamp. When the cheerful flames lit up the smiling children’s faces, Grandpa would sit down in his armchair and begin his tales.

Grandpa’s stories were never the same, which is why the children couldn’t wait for the next one. When he finally settled comfortably into his armchair, complete silence would fall among the children, and then he would begin his story:
