What to visit in... Coimbra

After publishing my previous books on what to visit in Cascais, Lisboa, Oeiras and Sintra, I received feedback from readers, asking for more native-level information on additional towns, particularly ones which aren’t all that often covered in guidebooks. For that reason, I decided to write this one on Coimbra, the Portuguese city of knowledge and students, particularly famous for its historical university, but which also contains many other interesting places to explore.

The premise for this new book follows entirely the spirit of the previous two – both as someone who was born and raised in Portugal, and as someone who loves presenting our local monuments to other people, I decided to write these lines in order to bring to light some of the most interesting things you can visit in Coimbra. As in the report on the areas near Lisboa, this book is also split into several different categories, making it easier for you to plan your own visit based on what you find more interesting for yourself and whoever accompanies you.

As usual, I won’t mention everything that you can see, as that would require me to write – and you to read – regarding many places that can’t normally be visited, but I will be sure to provide you with information on countless famous places, along with ones most people may not be familiarized with.

And, as in the past, I hope you like reading these lines as much as I myself enjoyed writing them.
