Jamie, after he visited me at my house and we made out on the kitchen table, left. I never saw him again. EXCERPT: His eyes were the brightest I’d ever seen. His height was an impressive 5 foot 10. He had a neatly trimmed mustache and a look that told me, he had it all. He probably was in his fifties. After all I wasn’t that young myself being a forty-two year old woman. Then he came forward. "Looks like they offer more than just a drink here." he said boldly. "The wine is good if that's what you mean" "I know. But I just feel this place hasn't been more generous to me than it is right now," he said. He couldn't take his eyes off me. Noticing his gaze I looked away. "I'm not on the list if that's what you mean." I said. He laughed "I never said that" he replied. I loved his approach and I was beginning to smile. Then he went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine and came to sit down with me. "Life moves us to meet the people that will make a difference in our lives," "Really?" I asked him. "I didn't think I'd meet you but here I am with you." "I'm generous this time. You won't get a second chance next time." I replied. As he slowly sipped his wine he observed me. "You know what?" he suddenly asked. I looked at him "What?" "I don't need a second chance." This was surprising as I had never had any man tell me he wouldn't want to see me again. But here was this guy bold, determined and it was like he knew what he wanted. "There won't be a second chance like I said." I repeated. "Then I'm going to take this first shot and make it my best shot ever." I laughed when he said that. It made him laugh too. We sat there talking and drinking until he told me he had finally met the woman he had been looking for, for so long.

A Lot’s Cave Novel
What Happened To Jamie?
He brought back life into my world when I was about to give up on life itself. Then when I was fully set and ready to be with him, he wasn't there anymore. What happened to my stepson, Jamie?
It's the question I've been asking myself after Roland, his father, and I resettled. It wasn't meant to be like that. I didn't want a resettlement. I was beginning to fall in love with Jamie. And when I started loving him, I decided I wanted him and only him in my life.
But then something happened to take him away. Till this very day, I still don’t know what happened. Jamie, after he visited me at my house and we made out on the kitchen table, left. I never saw him again.
So what happened?
I had just come out of a broken relationship with my ex. Eric Randall was his name.
He decided to walk out on me and go after my best friend. The thought of my best friend sleeping with my man got me devastated. Sally deVito was her name and we were childhood friends.
She knew more about me than anyone else, and I'd say even more than my family did. I had full trust in her and also felt she had that same trust in me. And so I never had a problem with her hanging out with my boyfriend, Eric. After all, I also from time to time used to hang out with her boyfriend too.
The relationship between us was good such that I never had any suspicion about her getting involved with Eric. And I also had no problem with Eric telling me, if while I had work to do, that he was going over to see her. Sally's boyfriend was away for most of the time and so having Eric around helped her a lot.
Everything was going on fine between us until one day Eric came back home looking suspiciously at me. I had just prepared dinner for us and set the table. He kept staring at me like I had done something wrong.
"Eric, am I right to say you're staring at me quite strangely?" he refused to sit down. It was the first time he was doing that. I looked up at him.
"Well aren't you going to sit down so we eat?" I asked quite surprised that he was still standing and staring at me.
"Na, I'm not hungry. I ate over at Sally's place." he said still staring at me. No matter what happened and no matter where he went, Eric would always come back to the dinner table like he was starving to death.
But right this moment, he was telling me a different story, a story that I had a hard time digesting.
"Oh so wait, you ate at Sally's place and never bothered to tell me?"
"I could've called but...well you know...I was quite busy." He sighed heavily like he was regretting something. This was new to me. But I took it that he was sincere telling me he ate at Sally’s place.
Much later I got on the phone with Sally. I wanted to know why she being my best friend didn't inform me that Eric would be eating at her place.
"And besides he said he was busy. What was he busy doing that didn't allow him time to call me?" I asked her. To this Sally didn’t respond. She was silent and this got me a bit worried.
"Sally? Are you still there?" I asked
"Yes Audrey, I can hear you." She replied back.
"But you haven't answered my question" I said
"What question...I mean what is it you were asking?"
"Sally I asked what kept my boyfriend busy in your house that he couldn't call me!"
"Shit Audrey you needn't shout," she said her voice trembling a bit.
"I will if you don't..."
"Fine, okay look... I'm sorry it happened. I mean me and Eric," she interrupted sighing heavily.
"Sally, how could you do this to me?"
"Look he was all over me...I mean his hands, he could never stop touching me."
"And you kept quiet about it all this time?" I asked now furious.
"I mean...shit...he was touching me nicely. It was nice, I couldn't refuse." A sudden silence fell between us. No one was said a word.
