The Archaeologist

It was the year 1880, and time was about to be revolutionized by the great wars of the currents. Mankind was on the verge of being introduced into a world that it had never experienced, albeit for a long time. But this age, which was dawning, was not only the epoche of natural science but also of archeology, for many things were about to be found, which would once again shake the foundations of man's perception and change his way of perceiving the world. Everywhere great men were discovering relicts of man's past and were well equipped with many tools and various gadgets to challenge the obstinate mind of reason. Jacque Brevier was also a man of reason but also an adventurer, someone who was prepared to risk his life for the good of humankind.

Born and raised in the beautiful state of Ontario, on a quiet farm, full of solace and idle virtue, where he had had his first inspiring ideas of revealing the past and trying to prove, that man has yet much to learn, because he in truth does not know anything at all, even if would not admit, that this is the case. Jacque or Jack, as the English Canadians called him, was a man of knowledge who had visited the best schools of Ontario and someone, who at a fairly young age, already had had an awesome academic career.

Books and archeological sites were his playgrounds, and this is why, he really loved his work, because it in some way or the other had something infantile, something, which reminded him of his youth, where he had enjoyed many wonderful hours, playing in the fields near the farm; memories which he always liked to rekindle, as he was unraveling secrets of pharaohs and other ancient kings of lore, which according to some legends, one durst not speak of.

So, it was no wonder that Jacque was very often digging out tombs of ancient rulers of Mesopotamia and other places. He was especially very fond of the old Persian culture and the Elamites, which had been fascinating him for some time. And this is where the story unfolds, where the interesting tale of this story commences in the capital of Iran, which has many flavors and tastes of different times, expanding from Achaemenids to the lush fruits and cultural gems of the Qajar Empire, which was almost at its peak, as Jacque first visited it in 1875.

Jacques was staying outside of the city of Teheran and working on a site, where he supposed the treasure of Teispes, the son of king Acheamenes, who was to be the grandfather of Darius the Great. His abode was modest, for Jacque loved the down to earth live style and was not a scientist, who was keen on financial status or fame. For him, the process of finding something was truly a pleasure and the goal of his life.

So, it came to pass that one day, the 20th of November, Jacque obtained a letter from a friend, which he read thoroughly, and this is how it read.

Dear Jacque Brevier,
