Macronutrients supply the calories to our body for energy and growth. They include carbohydrates, proteins, and fat. Micronutrients do not contain calories but are essential for health and growth. STANDARD AMERICAN DIET
About 85 percent of calories in the standard American diet (SAD) come from low-nutrient, high-calorie processed foods, animal products, dairy products, and sweets.
