A CAUTION TO THE READER

IF YOU ARE taking any medications for diabetes, do not make dietary changes without consulting a physician. This diabetic reversal program will lower your blood sugar level so you may need to reduce your medication to avoid a serious hypoglycemic reaction from taking too much medication. Warn your doctor about this and monitor your blood sugar level carefully the first few weeks after following the plan.

If you are also taking medications for high blood pressure, this program may lower your blood pressure too much, so watch that and discuss any changes with your doctor.

SYNOPSIS

"The End of Diabetes: The Eat to Live Plan to Prevent and Reverse Diabetes" by Joel Fuhrman, M.D.

Book Abstract

To cure type 2 diabetes, you must follow a correct diet and exercise plan so you can lose weight and allow the body to recover from the disease. A nutritarian diet plan is a diet plan rich in micronutrients. The more nutrient dense your diet, the healthier you become. The Eat to Live Plan described in this book is a nutritarian diet plan based on three dietary principles:

Vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, and fruits are health-promoting foods.

Excessive animal products increase chronic disease risk.

Refined carbohydrates promote chronic disease and lead to people becoming overweight and obese.

Author

Joel Fuhrman, M.D. is a board-certified family physician and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. He is the President of the Nutritional Research Foundation and is a member of the Dr. Oz Show Advisory Board.

INTRODUCTION

Today, 26 million Americans (11.3 percent of adults) have diabetes and 80 million (35 percent) adults have prediabetes. If this trend continues, one in three adults in American would be diabetic in 2050.

At the root of the crisis is the unhealthy American diet. Yet the medical community, and even the American Diabetes Association (ADA) has given up on a dietary approach to treat type 2 diabetes. Medication is the accepted treatment - even though the medication itself causes more weight gains, increasing the insulin resistance, and making the individual more diabetic.

Using drugs to control the glucose level while continuing to consume the standard American diet will not cure the disease. Excess body fat is the most significant cause of type 2 diabetes. If you lose the excess body fat and maintain high levels of micronutrients in the body, the cells will become more responsive to insulin, and usually, reverse type 2 diabetes.

To cure type 2 diabetes, you need to follow a correct diet and exercise plan so you can lose weight and allow the body to recover from the disease.

This program has been tested by thousands of individuals with extraordinary results. If you follow the advice, you'll see radical improvements in your health. And yes, it is possible to prevent and recover completely from type 2 diabetes.

THE FIRST STEP—UNDERSTANDING DIABETES
