My Robot Farts!

Chapter 1: Life Stinks

When it first came out of him, I wasn’t sure what it was.

“What was that?” I said to my shiny, new toy robot. I’d just gotten him for my birthday, and was in awe of his sleek, silver finish.

Of course, I didn’t expect him to reply. After all, he was just a pile of metal and plastic with a display on his chest that reminded me of the electric sign at my father’s favorite Chinese restaurant. And though most toys these days had built-in things that they could say, I never expected what came next.

Then he farted again. And again. Until I finally realized...

“Was that you?” My mom set down a tray of cookies on the kitchen counter, took off her apron, and walked into the living room.

“What was me?”

Another blast of air erupted, causing my hair to waver.

“Wasn’t me,” said the robot.

My mother glared at me, completely missing the fact that the robot had just responded to her.

“Better put a cork in it before your father does,” she said.

“Huh?”

Another exploding air biscuit shook the room.

“Stop farting!” my mother screamed.

“But, but...”
