FOREWORD

The author of the e-book“Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part Four” is the Pazardzhik folkloresinger Ivanka Ivanova Pietrek. In July, 2012, she published another e-book of hers – “Folklore Dedication.”

http://youtu.be/kQBpUAfiHCM

which was the author’s first effort to acquaint those who love the Bulgarian Folklore Song with the techniques of breathing and singing for folk songs, with the features of the Bulgarian folklore districts, custom clothing, instruments… with the specific Bulgarian measures and rhythms.

That edition was followed by the e-books “Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part One” – in early February, 2013 /44 folk songs with notations and lyrics which she performs and has included in three CDs,produced by ACM New Jersey – USA, sold online/

“Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part Two” with 44 other folk songs from her repertoire of Pazardzhik folk songs, recorded in different radio studios, TVs, CDs; “Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part Three” – 44 more folk songs from the Pazardzhik region, publicized by the singer via radio stations, TVs, and CDs.

“Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part Four” is the last set of 44 folklore songs, with musical notation and lyrics, from her repertoire, which completes this project. A new feature of the book is the authored carnival song in German, “Katrine”, which the singer turned into a hit in Germany. All the other songs are from her repertoire – Pazardzhik folklore songs, recorded in various radio studios, TVs, and CDs – classified by type and with explanations of the borrowed words: daily-life folk songs, daily-life-geographic, daily-life-historic, love folk songs, carnival – in German, evening ‘sedenka’ songs, work-folk songs, reaping folk songs, and haiduc folk songs.

Please keep an eye out for the realization of other projects of the folklore singer Ivanka Ivanova.
