eBay has been a platform for sellers since the mid-nineties where its creator Pierre Omidyar created the site over a weekend. Not long after, he sold the first product ever on eBay which was a broken laser pointer for $14, it would soon explode with popularity. eBay would allow him to quit his job and work on his website full time. It’s this kind of opportunity that eBay has created for people and could create for you too if you venture forward in this book and follow the advice that’s written in the forthcoming chapters.
After all, maybe you’d like to be Pierre Omidyar as well. It’s quite possible you wish to change jobs, or you’re looking for some extra money to pay your bills and groceries. eBay is a site where you can buy anything from t-shirts to coffee mugs to t-shirts with coffee mugs on them. That’s not a great idea, but you could do it. I won’t judge you.
When Omidyar started, he had to create his site from scratch just to sell a stinkin’ broken laser pointer. Luckily all the hard work’s done for you. You don’t have to learn how to program, you just set up your account, list your product, take a few pictures, and let the money roll in.
