INTRODUCTION: THE BUSINESS ENGLISH ACE CONCEPT
Business English Ace is a concept based on two premises: (1) the state of the person with the Business English knowledge and skills to excel in their assigned or desired task on the world stage; (2) the state of mind of this person who is capable of communicating ideas and conveying complex thoughts in a confident and secure manner in near effortless English. The union of these two facets is born out of a preparation undergone by learners of Business English who exhibit the determination and grit to achieve their professional goals and personal dreams.
An ace is a person who is very skilled at a craft or vocation. A Business English Ace is a person who is quite skilled using English in the business environment. The following is a summary of the knowledge and skills covered in How to be a Business English Ace.
Based on teaching professionals from varied backgrounds and working in the rough and tumble of the business world, these ten skills are key to thrive in global business dominated by the English language.
Chapter 1: Speak fluently. One must be able to articulate the language in order to be understood, including a reduced accent.
Chapter 2: Read smartly. One must be able to quickly understand a variety of business texts by activating prior or acquired knowledge.
Chapter 3: Listen strategically. One must be able to comprehend the spoken word and extract meaning relevant to the current task.
