Aspects of Learning

Getting cultured can mean a lot of different things to different people. It usually consists of a broader knowledge of the world and being aware of what some people call the “finer things in life”. It’s also going to focus on how you can learn about these things – how you can get cultured – for very little money.

Travel is part of culture because it’s a great way to learn about the world. Culture can be things like the location of famous landscapes or buildings, the most common food in a particular country, the languages people speak and what the biggest cities are. You can learn most of this from travel books (that are free at the public library!). I suggest checking out a travel book for an entire region or continent, such as Europe. Then browse it to find places that look interesting to you – then get more specific travel books for those countries or cities. Once you finish with Europe, move to South America (or any other area you’re interested in). Try to do this for all the areas of the world. It’ll take a little while, but as long as you keep it fun by choosing the places that interest you, you’ll be able to learn a lot and it won’t seem like work. You’ll have greatly increased your worldly knowledge for free…and you might even find the next place you’d like to travel!
